

Thane Tande and Calvin Casey Added to the Planning Commission
Ahead of the March 16, 2023, Planning Commission meeting Interim City Administrator Mark Mc Neill swore in two new members Thane Tande and Calvin Casey. Thane and Calvin fill the open positions vacated by Mark Siemers who resigned, and Abe Zanto who was elected to the City Council. The City Council had made the appointments of Thane and Calvin back in February, following an application and interview process.
Thane Tande a business owner of the Knotty Oar Marina in Prior Lake and a resident of Credit River for five years, has previously served on the Prior Lake EDAC and the Prior Lake Marina Task Force. Tande believes in retaining the small-town feel while preparing for future residential and commercial development.
Calvin Casey, a life-long resident of Credit River and a farmer, is also a business owner of his own seed business. Casey is committed to the past, present, and future of Credit River, as his family has roots in the area dating back to 1855.
The Planning Commission advises the City Council on land use policies and plans, and to make recommendations to the City Council related to development activities. Commission members have the powers and duties given planning agencies as provided in Minnesota Statutes 462.351-462.364. The Commission also exercises the duties conferred upon it by the City Code including the Zoning Ordinance and by the Council. The Planning Commission meets at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the third Thursday of each month.
The City Council appoints Planning Commission members for two-year terms.
